Remember when you used to argue with your older/younger brother/sister over who got the bigger piece of cake? Who am I kidding - we still do that! Well, the Cake Divider by Klipy hopes to bring an end to such squabbles by allowing you to divide a cake/pie into equal slices. Simply find the centre of the cake, pop in the gadget, make an initial cut, then line up the guides according to the amount of slices you want, 6, 8, 10, or 12 equal sized pieces – it’s a piece of cake (pun intended)! So, you’re queuing up at McDonald’s, and while doing so, you scan their menu from left to right, up and down. It all looks so good, you tell yourself. The moment is impending. The anticipation builds, as does your hunger. As you approach the till, you take one last glance at the menu, but there’s no point – your mind is already made up. You know exactly what your order is: “Hi, can I have a Big Mac meal please?” You ask the man behind the counter. “That will be £3.82 please.” He replies. You hand over the coins, and in exchange he places a tray in front of you. The next 3-5 minutes are as follows: first, he pours you your drink. Then, he scoops up your fries. Finally, he collects your boxed-up hamburger together with sachets of ketchup, and before you know it, you have one Big Mac meal waiting in front of you, ready to be devoured. More on the reverse.

I’m not too sure what category this falls under, but nonetheless it’s a pretty cool concept. I’m forever losing cutlery (the good kind) and since I’m always on the go, I often find myself short of a utensil or two. As for disposable cutlery, well, they’re not really environmentally friendly, are they? The Dine-ink Pen Utensil Set by ZO-loft hopes to be to be the solution to such woes, by allowing you to convert your pens into ready-to-use cutlery. More on the reverse.

Live in London? Or just visiting? Looking for something to do this evening (that’s Friday, if you’re reading this late)? Well, if you like good food and good music, head down to Old Street and pay the Red Market a visit. "East London’s Original Night Market" will be playing host to Last.fm’s DJ Team, who will be spinning the best tunes from 7pm ‘til 10pm. You can also expect to sample street food and cocktails from local traders, as well as film screenings, live events and even two pieces of art by Banksy. And if all gets too much for you, there are hammocks which you can lay down in! More on the reverse.

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: steroid beer. In light of the London 2012 Olympics, there has never been a greater emphasis placed on athletes to compete naturally. So it may come as a surprise that UK-based brewers, BrewDog, have engineered ale that supposedly contains banned substances. OK, only the first batch (unavailable to the public) contained steroids – allegedly. Aptly named “Never Mind the Anabolics”, the 6.5% India Pale Ale is infused with creatine, guarana, ginseng, gingo, maca powder, matcha tea and kola nut – all of which are banned for professional athletes. More on the reverse.

Being a fitness enthusiast, one of my most favourite blogs I like to read is “Peanut Butter Fingers” by Julie Fagan, from Florida. Unlike many blogs of the like, Julie’s makes for easy reading. Anyway, just under a year ago, I stumbled across a post written by her titled “100 Flavor Coke Machine”, in which she discusses just that – a 100 flavour Coca-Cola vending machine that allows purchasers to mix and match “base” sodas with a wide variety of flavours. Today, Coca-Cola has announced that they are bringing that very same machine, the “Coca-Cola Freestyle” to the UK. More on the reverse.
