You may remember that a week or so ago, I wrote a post on Caine’s Arcade, which told the story of Caine Monroy, a 9 year-old boy from California who built an elaborate arcade out of cardboard boxes. So, following on from that, I introduce to you Bartek Elsnar, an Art Director from Germany. However, I like to think of Bartek as a “cardboard creativist”; while each sculpture/model is beautifully handcrafted, they are often underlined by a satirical undertone - kind of like Banksy. They say “a picture’s worth a thousand words.” If that’s the case, then each one of Benoit Paillé’s captivating photographs is worth a novel. Paillé’s series of snaps, entitled Stranger Project, captures strangers, who he encounters in “non-existent places” such as crowded streets, subways, malls etc. There is both a sense of presence and endearment in each photo, which helps convey the emotion of the “model”. It’s easy to overlook these emotions in everyday life, but for a photographer, Paillé does a great job in capturing them to tell a tale. More on the reverse.
I have a confession to make. For someone who preaches a healthy lifestyle, I haven’t been doing much practicing – not until recently, anyway. Last year, I was arguably in the best shape of my life, yet somewhere along the line, I lost the motivation to exercise and eat healthily. However, a fortnight ago, I made a conscious decision to rekindle my passion for fitness, which led me to revisit my notes from last year.
